Skiing The Pines Country House is situated in the heart of the Highlands, with so many attractions surrounding, there is something for everyone!

The Country House itself is surrounded by a mature Pine Forest, which encourages wildlife to be on our doorstep. This is the natural habitat of the red squirrel, rabbits, blue tits, great tits, crested tits, siskins, tree creeper, woodpeckers, buzzards and if you're quick enough, you can see Roe Deer.

Ospreys hide is 7 miles at RSPB reserve Boat-of-Garten Eagles sore above the valley of the Findhorn 15 miles.

In the surrounding area there are lots of Castles to view, Whisky Distilleries for the Scotland favourite tipple.

Fishing on Lochans or on the River Spey.

Each village is host to Golf course 9 or 18 holes

Plenty of Hill walking, in the mountains high or low walks Pony trekking locally, 2 or 4 hour treks

Off road driving, use either your own vehicle or one provided

World Porridge Making Champion, 2005

Lynn Benge Lynn Benge, owner of The Pines Country House, is the proud winner of The 12th annual Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championship.

After 12 years of competing in this annual event, Lynn Benge is the proud winner of the 2005 World Porridge Making Championship. It is a great accomplishment after previously winning the Speciality Porridge award in 2004. This year, not only did Lynn walk away with the title of World Champion, she also left with the coveted Golden Spurtle trophy, and a £350 hotel voucher along with £250 spending money from sponsors, Hamlyn’s of Scotland.

This award has gained Lynn world wide recognition, with being interviewed on the radio by many stations including the BBC Radio Five Live, BBC Radio Scotland, and ABC Radio Sydney in Australia.

Lynn's winning recipe
Ingredients: 1 cup oatmeal, 3 equal cups of water, 1½ cup milk, ½ oz knob of butter, ½ teaspoon of salt .
Method: Add to pan oatmeal, water & milk stirring all the time. Bring to the boil, add butter and salt keep stirring. Stir until thickens. Serve and enjoy...
